Selena Gomez stands in front of a green screen as she shoots a PSA for DoSomething.org in a hotel room in Puerto Rico on Thursday morning (March 19).

The 16-year-old actress is the new ambassador for DoSomething.org’s Animal Welfare project. Selena most recently filmed a dog-umentary to bring awareness to some of the careless treatment of dogs in Puerto Rico.

Selena’s goal is to find these dogs homes by sending them to different places in the U.S that have no-kill dog shelters.

In the upcoming episode “Alex Does Good,” the school principal enrolls Alex (Gomez) in the Sunshine Club after noticing her kindness to an elderly woman, Maggie (Worley). Alex quickly sees that the students in the club are only interested in helping others for their own good, and decides that charity without an agenda is the best way to live. Meanwhile, Theresa (Maria Canals-Barrera) and Jerry (David DeLuise) appoint Justin (David Henrie) to be Max’s (Jake T. Austin) chaperone on his first date.

The 16-year-old starlet enjoyed a day of shopping and sightseeing with mom Mandy and stepdad Brian. She picked up a new perfume from the Burberry store and enjoyed a cup of shaved ice cream from a street vendor. Selena, Mandy and Brian also visited Cathedral of San Juan Bautista, one of the oldest buildings in the city.

Selena Gomez and mom Mandy are teaching even more safe driving techniques in a new commerical from State Farm insurance.

The 16-year-old Wizards actress shares what she’s learned from driving, saying, “Being a safe driver means not taking any chances. Always wear your seat belt and pay attention to the speed limit. Don’t text or talk on the phone while driving. Who doesn’t love to text? But I can wait.”

Selena also credits mom Mandy in teaching her safe driving. “I have a really good teacher,” she said. “Thanks Mom.”

The duo, who is currently in Puerto Rico filming the much-anticipated Wizards of Waverly Place movie, was seen playing on their smartphones and laptops as they waited for better weather.

Costar Jennifer Stone arrived on the set on Sunday. She and Selena caught up really quick but were bummed when the computers went down — they couldn’t watch Bride Wars!

The duo sang and danced to some of their favorite songs, including “Seasons of Love” from the Broadway musical Rent and “Hot ‘n Cold” from Katy Perry. Selena even munches on her lunch — a plate full of corn and potatoes. Yummy!

Last night, Selena and Jennifer were set on watching Bride Wars together, but it didn’t happen. Selena tweeted, “Computers are down in hotel… cant watch Bride Wars with Jenn.. I’m laughing and Jenn’s angry ha ha.. wonderful night.”

BFFs Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato are all smiles behind-the-scenes of their Disney Channel Original movie, Princess Protection Program.

The duo, both 16, star as Carter (Gomez) and Rosie (Lovato) in the flick, two girls who come from much different worlds to form a friendship. They shared, “Our friendship in the movie is nothing like our friendship in real life.”

Selena continued, “It’s been like a dream come true. We did work together when we were younger, but then, we’re best friends and we spend every second with each other. So, to be able to work with each other [again] was definitely one of our dreams.”

DoSomething.org ambassador Selena Gomez and her Wizards costar Jake T. Austin are making a difference for the pups of Puerto Rico.

The 16-year-old actress filmed a heart-breaking ‘dog’-umentary on the beach last weekend to bring awareness to some of the carelessness of the dogs in Puerto Rico. Selena has rallied her friends — band Forever The Sickest Kids, Taylor Swift, Corbin Bleu and Rita Rocks star Nicole Sullivan — and teamed up with Charity Buzz to benefit Island Dog, Inc.

Selena wrote on her MySpace, “Hey. I just wanted to let everyone know the new Charity Auction has launched. It runs until March 31st so be sure to check it out and get your parents permission to make a bid. Thank you all so much for being a part of this Charity Auction. Selena Gomez was more than happy to take a picture with JJJ reader Jackie and her pals in Puerto Rico last weekend.

Jackie writes about her meet and greet with Selena, “My friends and I were touring Old San Juan on Sunday, March 8. As we walked through the gate of La Forteleza onto a beautiful cobblestone street, we spotted someone with a telescopic lens. It dawned on me that he was not exactly a tourist, but rather a papparazzo! Who was he taking photos of? Selena Gomez, her mom, and step dad, of course! After we came to the conclusion that it was in fact Selena, we ran down the street and asked to take a picture with her. When we got to her, Selena, was actually offering to take pictures FOR tourists who clearly did not recognize who she was. So nice of her! We ended up asking her mom to take the photo. Luckily, I set my DSLR camera to auto-mode beforehand! As you can see, we, except Selena, were all sweaty from the humidity.”

Selena, 16, also posted on her official Twitter that costar Jennifer Stone was flying into Puerto Rico this weekend. She wrote, “Jennifer gets in townnn tonight! thank goodness for a piece of home, i love her dearly. She’s my crying buddy.”

On admiring Britney Spears: “In a way, Britney can be someone to look up to. She was constantly being looked at and picked on, and it’s starting to happen to me. At the moment, I don’t have anything good they can pick on me with, but they’ll find something. Maybe I can be as strong.”

On being proud of her heritage: “I didn’t even realize what a big deal it was to be Latin at first. But then one day being with my dad, it hit me: it’s pretty neat to be Mexican. And there aren’t enough Latinas in Hollywood—or there are, but they don’t get the recognition. So to be able to come out here and use that, it’s really a powerful thing.”

The 19-year-old actor cleaned up and hit the gym afterwards. David hit the cycle machine for about 10 minutes but then got a phone call that put an end to his work-out.

Selena Gomez isn’t spending her day at the beach tanning in Puerto Rico, where she’s filming the Wizards movie.

Instead, the 16-year-old starlet will be spending the day with the dogs! She writes on her MySpace, “I’m honored to be the new ambassador for DoSomething.org! The last time I was in PR shooting Princess Protection Program we noticed all of these stray dogs and puppies. We ended up finding out that Puerto Rico has a ‘dead dog beach’ its sounds worse than it is but people actually kills dogs for fun here.. BFFs Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato laugh up a storm in this new promo for their upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie, Princess Protection Program.

Selena and Demi, both 16, star as Carter and Rosalinda in the flick. When Princess Rosalina (Lovato) is threatened by an evil dictator bent on taking control of her country, she is whisked away and placed into the Princess Protection Program. Mason, an agent with the program, hides Princess Rosalina in his own home where, with the help of his daughter Carter (Gomez), she adopts the cover of an ordinary teen named Rosie. The two form a close bond as Carter helps Rosie transform into a normal teenager and Rosie shows Carter how to find the princess within herself.

The foursome hung out at the premiere party for Demi’s new Disney Channel series Sonny With A Chance at The Improv comedy club. The girls had a great time watching the show, laughing and snacking on a big plate of French Fries.

Selena Gomez may not have her license just yet, but she’s already promoting safe driving by putting down her cell phone.

The 16-year-old Wizards leading lady recently shot a public service announcement commercial about it and told People, “Don’t do a thousand things in your car! In the car, just focus on what you need to be doing.”

She continues, “I’ve almost been in wrecks because of people [using phones while driving]. I’ll sit there and look at someone and go, ‘Gosh! She completely almost ran into us,’ then look at her and see she’s on the phone. That’s the reason!”

Selena’s PSA, which also features mom Mandy, will air on the Disney Channel and can be viewed on State Farm Insurance’s website in March.

The 16-year-old Wizards leading lady just updated her MySpace and talked about her new family, her album and her TV show.

Selena wrote, “I just wanted to check in with you guys and fill ya in on whats going on. The show (Wizards of Waverly Place) is going great. We are almost finished with our second season and about to take off to shoot our movie for the show! We are so excited to start that! Also I’m still in the studio recording my album and I really am so happy with how it’s coming out and can’t wait to share it with you guys!

“I wanted to fill you guys in on my new family.. some of you may already know of them but they are this AMAZING band called Forever the Sickest Kids! They have been so sweet to me and are the brothers I’ve never had! We all live in Texas and bonded so quickly! And as my job as a little sister to them I want to support them 100% and help spread the word about them and their music! They have been an absolute blessing to me and they are unbelievable musicians! They watch over me and I want to do the same for them! So you guys should check em out :) And to all the FTSK fans I want you guys to know that I just want to help them out! that’s all.. I wont touch their music haha.

Selena Gomez got the chance to joke around with the members of rock band Forever The Sickest Kids last weekend.

The 16-year-old Wizards of Waverly Place leading lady spent the weekend with Jonathan, Kent, Kyle, Caleb, Marc, and Austin, singing with them on their new single, “She’s A Lady.”

FTSK even blogged on their official website about the visit. They wrote, “We got a surprise visit today at the studio by a very special lady, Selena came by to hang, she is so super fun and one of the most talented, down to earth friends we have met! She sat down with us and acoustic guitars and picked up the harmonies to ‘She’s A Lady’ first time through the song! She recorded it and it should be on youtube soon! We just had the most rockin’ time ever with her and are pulling super hard for her, and her new album! Go get it when it comes out pleeeease! If you are bored go to her myspace and tell her Forever The Sickest Kids love her! (p.s. you can tell Taylor Swift the same thing!) Selena Gomez goes through her luggage before she checks into her flight at LAX airport in Los Angeles on Friday night (January 23).

The 16-year-old actress was seen holding onto a LSAT workbook. LSAT stands for law school admission test and is required for mostly all law schools. Is Selena law school bound?

Selena was also seen with a copy of “He’s Just Not That Into You: Your Daily Wake-Up Call.” The movie based on the book hits theaters on Friday, February 6th.

Jake T. Austin just premiered his new flick, Hotel For Dogs, over the weekend and dished to OK! mag about his two pet pooches.

The 14-year-old Wizard’s two dogs are named Bogey and Beju. He shares with the mag, “My dad owns a restaurant, so we joke that my dogs eat like kings and queens. He’ll take home spare filet mignon, and my dogs will eat that. They eat and live like kings. We have a huge property and a really nice house. I don’t think they realize how lucky they are.”

Jake also dished about his two Wizards co-stars, David Henrie and Selena Gomez: “She’s (Selena) very nice, funny and comical. Sometimes we go to dinner, movies. I taught her how to surf. She learned fast. She’s a good surfer now.”

Jake also joked, David Henrie is a little slow, though.” Ha ha ha.

Selena Gomez chilled out with Young Hollywood last week at Access Hollywood’s “Stuff You Must…” gifting lounge.

The 16-year-old actress dished about her upcoming movie, Princess Protection Program, gifting lounges and co-star Drew Seeley.

Drew had nothing but nice things to say about her: “It was amazing, she’s great. She’s a lot of fun, knows not to take herself too seriously. That’s the way I am, so we both had a lot of fun.”

Selena gushed after she heard what he had said, “Awww, I love him. He’s still my favorite co-star that I’ve ever worked with.”

The 16-year-old Wizards of Waverly Place leading lady dished to US Weekly about her debut album, acting dreams and her love for Kate. Here’s what she had to say:

On her love for Revolutionary Road: “I love Revolutionary Road. That is the movie I want to take all the awards. I can’t even get over it. Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio just kill it.”

On moving on from Disney later in life: “I love the Disney channel, and I always want to keep that relationship because they gave me my start, but I’d love to someday make a transition and do roles that are really challenging for me. I’d like to do comedy, romance, anything.”

On her musical aspirations: “Hopefully I’ll finish up in April and debut my album in July. I’m really excited that people will see a whole other side of me.”

Here’s what she had to say about the film: “I’m at my little brother’s [Jake T. Austin] premiere of Hotel For Dogs and I suggest you guys go buy it [go see it]. I’m going to go buy like 12 tickets when it comes out. I’m really proud of him.”

The 16-year-old starlet was recently nominated for an NAACP Image Award for her role in The Wizards of Waverly Place. Selena is up against Caitlin Sanchez, Keke Palmer, Kyle Massey and Lil’ JJ.

The 40th NAACP Image Awards will air on Thursday, February 12 @ 8PM ET/PT on FOX.

Selena Gomez puts on a pretty smile on as she turns into Tinkerbell in an upcoming episode of The Wizards of Waverly Place. (She also sang “Fly to Your Heart” on the Tinker Bell movie soundtrack.)

In episode “Fairy Tale”, Alex (Gomez) takes over for her best friend Harper (Jennifer Stone) in their school’s production of Peter Pan. Phil of the Future actor Dan Benson guest stars as Peter Pan.
