My Thoughts on the Presidency of Franklin Pierce

The Northerner who wished he was red-neck, was our 14th President.

Despite minor and ineffective foreign policy, Pierce was responsible for the Gadsden purchase which added land to the United States which is a good thing.

What was not cool was the Kansas-Nebraska Act. Basically made the Missouri Compromise null and void, and gave the West the right to decide if it wanted slavery.

He also sided with the false pro-slavery government of Kansas. Eventually Federal Troops had to break up the Bleeding Kansas fight.

I don't really have to give any thought to whether Pierce was a bad president or not. He was did everything he could to make sure slavery was still in-tact. The only real legitimate thing he did was add a little bit of land in the southwest. Big whoop.
