I really liked the NES verson of Bubble Bobble ever since I bought it on Virtual Console. I totally didn't even know they made an NES-only sequel until recently.
It's a straight-up sequel and not a spin-off like Rainbow Islands. So it pretty much plays like the last game, I think they gave our favorite dinosaurs the ability to float and shoot a triple bubble attack.
Sadly I didn't dig the sequel as much as I did the first game. The design of the game is rather lackluster, and they put a life-limit on the almost 100 round game.
It introduced a couple of better ideas like a real boss battle between levels, however they also took a couple steps back. Such a shame, but then again when I heard it was an NES-only sequel I could only expect as much.
Score: 5 out of 10
