Metroid: Other M Impressions

Got this through Blockbuster By Mail. I've played practically every game in the Metroid series except this.

Granted I knew it wasn't a "true" Metroid game, instead a Ninja Gaiden clone co-developed by Tecmo's Team Ninja guys. But it's a kind of mix between Ninja Gaiden, 2D Metroids, and the Metroid Prime series.

It's the first Metroid to have a considerable deep plot, real cut-scenes, and voice acting. It's all kinda boring though, and they're unskippable so it sucks if you hate them.

Just got done with my first boss fight, and the game is fun for now. I'm not exactly thrilled about playing the rest, but I'll remain optimistic.

My Batman: Arkham Asylum Impressions

I just got it yesterday thanks to Blockbuster By Mail.

I really like the setting of the game. The prison/insane asylum is dark and spooky and filled with chills.

Granted the story and characters are rewritten and re-imagined for the game alone. It's kinda like that new show that came out on the WB except for adults, and this one is actually good.

I'm also digging the game-play. Pretty decent fighting engine, with stealth to boot. Makes you think and plan out attacks. Also let's you upgrade your deadliness. This is one of the first games in a long time where I played it for several hours straight without stopping.

I Cancelled Netflix, I'm Now a Member of Blockbuster By Mail

I've used Netflix for a few years, but I'm just tired of their service. With a price jump lurking, I cancelled my membership today. Instant videos were a big plus for me, however I watched too much content and they don't seem to be getting too many new movies up on Instant that appeal to me anymore.

The big reason why I'm switching is for 1. Being able to switch movies in store. 2. You can get video games on the service too but through mail-only. BUMMER. Oh well.
