Things I Like: Klonoa (Wii Remake)

I heard some good things about it, but even though it was a remake I don't really remember the PS1 game at all.

I heard it was pretty good back in the day, I guess none of my friends owned a copy.

The differences are pretty much only graphical changes. Pretty faithful remake, even though it doesn't add too many things to the experience.

As for the game itself, it's a cute and charming platformer. Lots of action and plenty of jumps and near misses. Plus some secrets to be uncovered and found as well.

I had a really good time with Klonoa even though it's a bit too easy and very short. Anybody who enjoys Mario and Sonic should give this one a try.

Things I Hate: Nokia N-Gage

This came out an awkward time. People could afford cell phones pretty cheaply, and they could also buy a Gameboy Advance without much trouble. Despite how much success smart-phones made with gaming in the past 2 to 3 years, this was a dumb idea.

The hardware was ugly and clunky, you had to remove the battery to change a game (seriously), and the only games that were on it were pissed down ports of other games like Sonic N which was Sonic Advance with worse graphics.

They made a better model shortly after, but it was too little too late.

Sonic CD Confirmed for XBLA, PSN, iOS, and More

One of the best Sonic games ever will be coming out to XBLA, PSN, iOS, and some other devices. Can't wait to replay this gem of a game.

Sonic CD Headed To Xbox Live Arcade?

Apparently that Major Nelson dude from Microsoft confirmed it will be at PAX this year. Which is pretty sweet considering it's one of the best Sonic games of all time. It's a shame not too many people have played it since it was only re-released on Sonic Gems Collection for GameCube. Hope they add the option for Japanese music.

Things I Hate: Sonic R

This was obviously trying to tap at the success of the Mario Kart series.

It had the right idea, Sonic sorta copied Mario the first time so why not racing?

Well if you count just running around boring tracks with crappy controls fun then you're in luck! Otherwise you will hate Sonic R about as much as I did.

Things I Like: Sonic The Fighters

I wanted to play this game so badly when I was a kid. However arcades sucked in my area even before the "death" of American arcades.

However Sonic Gems Collection on Gamecube had this game on it's disk. I was a bit worried to see if this game truly sucked or was as good as I had hope all those years before.

It's not the greatest fighter in the world, but I liked it quite a bit. It's fun and simple action with a few lame characters you've never heard of.

Things I Hate: Flicky

I only played this because it was put in with Sonic Mega Collection on Gamecube. It only relates to Sonic, because Flicky made a cameo in Sonic's 3D Blast.

Honestly, the real game is based off an arcade game I believe. Very simple, kinda like Joust in a few ways. Make sure you pick up the other birds before the cats kill your ass.

It's really just too boring, simple, and too damn hard to enjoy.

Things I Hate: Alex Kidd in Miracle World

Relatively unknown to Americans, Alex Kidd was the big game for the Sega Master System. If Mario was the NES's favorite child, then most Sega fans would say Alex Kidd for the SMS. It was apparently Sega's Sonic before they had Sonic, or something like that.

Game-play wise, it's not even fucking close to Sonic. It actually has a bit of variety and whatnot.

However most of the levels involve the monkey-midget jumping up and down trying to hit enemies with kicks and punches with very little room for error. The combat sucks balls.

The boss battles are really resorted to Janken (rock, paper, scissors) matches. Also I believe if you die, you have to restart the whole game over again. It has the right ideas, but executed them stupidly. Terrible game for some of the most petty reasons that could have been easily fixed.

Things I Like: Sonic & Knuckles

This was one of my favorite games as a kid, even though I sucked at it.

Loved the fake "super graphics" for the time at the title screen.

It played like most 2D Sonic games do, and it's much better than Sonic 3.

Even though Knuckles had a cool gliding move, I like playing more as Sonic for some reason. But the excellent levels are worth playing twice.

One of the coolest things about the game was the attachable cartridge. If you plugged Sonic 2 or 3 in the slot, you could play as Knuckles in either game.

Pretty nifty!

Things I Hate: Sonic The Hedgehog 3

I really like all the main Sonic games on Genesis except Sonic 3. I don't know what happened here, but Sega fucked up.

It introduces Knuckles and everything, but it's basically the same Sonic & Tails game-play from Sonic 2.

What I don't like is the level design. A lot of it feels very sloppily done, and too difficult in some areas. I've given the game so many chances but I still don't like it.

Things I Like: Sonic Mega Collection

Before Virtual Console and Xbox Live arcade us non-pirates only had collection disks to seek our teeth into. I really liked Mega Collection.

All the good Genesis games, and some shit along with it. Unlockable games, and some nifty extras.

Things I Hate: Sonic Spinball

Played this as a kid, and even gave it another shot through re-releases, but I still don't like this game

Is it that bad? Well not really. But it really is nothing more than a boring pinball game.

Though I can admit that I do at least like the new rules and special additions that Spinball does versus traditional pinball. Like the ability to save your ass from a fall.

Things I Hate: Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine

I couldn't stand this game as a kid, and I sure can't stand it now through re-releases like Sonic Mega Collection.

The game is basically Puyo-Pop with Sonic and friends. Even the weird cartoon villains are in this game.

It's not a bad game in it's own right I suppose. I like my Tetris, but I'm not a fan of this puzzle game. Just can't get into it.
