Dead Rising 2 Review

I've been playing it for the past couple of days, I can't really say I dug it too much.

I admit I did enjoy the plot for what it's worth. The whole world is somehow used to zombies, and they even used Zombies for a game-show. After a massive outbreak in Nevada, Chuck Greene has to save his daughter Katey and prove his innocence.

I kinda chuckled a bit at the Cure protest group in the game. Though some liberals (I am one by the way) might find it a bit offense as it makes fun of more "hippie" protest groups.

The story has some surprising twists and turns, and I really liked Rebecca Chang. The sexy Asian news reporter is a key part of the plot, and proves to be a lot of eye-candy for Chuck.

Anyways the main game is pretty much the same from the first Dead Rising. A huge mall filled with Zombies that you can destroy, stores you can mess with, and side-missions to complete.

Plus tons of fun weapons to use. You can even create super-wacky combo weapons using the special maintenance room.

Despite all those cool game-play features, what ruined the game for me were two things. Number 1 was the 3 Day time limit, and other minor time limits in general. Dead Rising 2 seemed like such a sandbox game, that you could just spend countless hours messing around. Lastly is your daughter Katey's need for Zombrex, a medicine that prevents her from changing into the un-dead herself. Not only do you need to find Zombrex in some random place, but you have to drop whatever you're doing and give it to her.

Capcom is one of my favorite video game developers, and even though they've made fantastic games, they often come up with some of worst ideas to ruin them. They're a company that prides themselves into making games "harder", and sometimes harder means annoying. Dead Rising 2 could have been so much more, but I can't say I even want to go back and play the original.

Score: 6 Out of 10

Dead Rising 2 Impressions

I actually never played the first game, but wanted to. Dead Rising 2 happened to be for rent on Blockbuster By Mail, so I decided to give it a shot.

Unlike Capcom's Resident Evil series, there's a lot more zombies to face than the Raccoon Police Department ever had to deal with.

Granted these zombies are slower, and you can sometimes run past them without fear of injury. Though killing crowds of them can prove to be a challenge. You are given are a lot of weapons as well, pretty much anything from chairs, handbags, axes, guitars, and guns can be picked up and used against the undead.

There is a time-limit (do not want) for the whole game which inspires people to play multiple times I suppose, and I haven't gotten past day 1 of 3 just yet. Hopefully these game limitations prove to be much more fun than they sound.

My Day Yesterday: Up and Early For Work

Woke up really early today to start a super-early shift at work.

Work sucked.

But I was able to get a good biscuit at McDonald's on break. I love breakfast.

Then I went home and watched Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

Also found out I was out of soda, so I had to get my mom to get me some on sale near her work before she came home. I was too tired to do it myself.

Found out the next game Blockbuster is sending me will be Dead Rising 2. Didn't come in the mail today, so that means on Tuesday I will get it. Stupid labor day.

Also watched my copy of Semi-Pro.

And now it's time to go night night for yet another early day......
