10-Yard Fight (NES) Review

10-Yard Fight is yet another sports game in Nintendo's mini-series of NES games. Most of them are bad except Ice Hockey.

This one plays pretty decent, and I prefer the top down view verses the horizontal view of something like Tecmo Bowl. Except it's more like a Tiger handheld sort of game than a legitimate football title. For some reason you only play offense, if your pass is intercepted you go 20 yards back, and once you score it starts over again.

They had some good ideas, but they kinda flopped in the long-term. It's aged quite a bit, but at least we can look back and say "well at least Madden took some lessons from it" or something.

My Day Yesterday

About as soon as I woke up this morning I get a call from my girlfriend. A company asked her to go get an interview and she got hired. She starts this morning actually. I wish her the best of luck.

I'm actually trying to get a new job myself. The job hunt starts again tomorrow.

Found out where the Halloween Express will be in my town this year. I can't wait until it opens.

Also played Tennis and Ice Hockey for NES, and reviewed them both.

Also found my lost pair of headphone buds. Now I can listen to my iPod Touch again.

Blockbuster By Mail also sent me Batman Arkham Asylum for 360 right before I went to work. I wish my house wasn't so dead last on the postal route :( Oh well....

Ice Hockey (NES) Review

NES sports games are pretty terrible by today's standards, but I've heard really good things about Ice Hockey.

It has basically what every other hockey game had done during the NES and SNES eras. I like how it's released before the fall of Communism, it's funny to see a Soviet Union team in here.

It's actually pretty deep for an NES game. I didn't have much trouble controlling my guys after a few minutes of pratice, and my Soviet comrades fought a good fight against the Swedish players.

If only there were more modes, but I'll give it a little slack for being an NES game. It's not bad at all.
