Watched Bamboo Blade (Complete Anime Series)

My girlfriend and I saw this at the library. The whole series is only like 26 episodes so it's not super long like many other anime shows. The show is about a high school kendo (think fencing but Japanese style) team and their adventures.

The main character is Toraji Ishida who is a worthless kendo coach who often begs for food and scared to face life's obstacles. He is more commonly referred to as Kojiro

Then there is Tamaki Kawazoe who Kojiro finds out of the blue after seeing her use her amazing ability at swordsmanship. She also likes anime and manga very much. She joins the team only to serve as an "anime-like protector" after seeing a former member assaulting freshmen.

Then there is Kirino Chiba who is the team captain despite being a rather wishy-washy fighter depending on her mood. She does have a good heart, and has a lot of comedic appeal.

Then there is Sayako Kuwahara, more commonly known as "Saya." She quit and rejoined the team due to her personality of being a rather depressive person. One of those starving artist type of people.

Then there is a Satori Azuma, a young girl who can't pass a test, wears fake glasses, but has very good skills at kendo.

One of the most notable characters is Danjuro Eiga. A little ugly guy who at first seems weak and frail, but then gets a lot of wisdom and learns a lot of kendo.

Could you believe this girl right here is Danjuro's girlfriend? Neither can most of the cast. Miyako Miyazaki (often called "Miya Miya") is on the surface a very sweet girl who loves her man. However deep down she has a dark and twisted personality to people who are unkind to her.

Lastly there is Yuji Nakata who is just one of the boys in the kendo club. He has a lot of experience, but serves mostly as the voice of reason. Often mocking Kojiro for doing dumb things, or having different motives for winning matches.

Overall it's a decent and memorable anime. It starts out really funny and creative, however there is a plot point that drags it down to a rather depressing mood. I kinda wished the whole series didn't turn all melancholic all of a sudden, but it has a decent ending.

My Day Yesterday

Picked my girlfriend up from her house, she has the day off. We bought some groceries at Save-a-lot, and went the library.

Found this while we were there. Haven't watched it yet.

We did watch more Bamboo Blade, very good anime.

I mailed my copy of Batman: Arkham Asylum back in to Blockbuster By Mail. I wonder what they will send to me next?

Then I went to work, sucky day.

My Day Yesterday

I thought I'd start doing this now, for readers to get to know me a little, and for time keeping records for myself.

Yesterday I helped out a group of friends for our local Democratic party at a college fair event. We had a little table, and had a few people sign up. Parking was terrible, most places were only for students and teachers, so it was a headache trying to find a place to park that would not land me a ticket. Had a good time, even though I got sunburned. So much free stuff too, even Papa Johns gave us free slices of Pizza. Luckily thanks to clever planning, I was able to get 2 slices and 1 for my girlfriend.

After that we went to the mall and Costco to look around. While my girlfriend was shopping at JCPenny I decided to get her birthday present from Things Remembered. It will be available tonight, but I will probably have to wait a day to get it since I'll be working.

We also went looking at animals at the humane society and Petsmart. She wanted to see if they had a Husky dog and we finally found one, but it was kinda a mutt husky. We weren't looking to adopt anything, she's just wants one when we're married. I just went because I like seeing all the doggies and puppies.

Also stopped by Party City, which is finally starting to put their Halloween stuff up. I miss Halloween already, can't wait to see some more of them. Also saw a new halloween store being put together near it, so I'll have another place to look around.

After a long day, we went home and watched a little bit of Bamboo Blade. Pretty decent anime, very cute and funny. Looks great on my HDTV.

Watched Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!

I was hesitant of watching this since I was waiting for an English dub. However since I'm learning Japanese (just used to the English voices) I decided to watch it anyway since it will help me learn and see if I could pick up any words.

Love the new animation, looks better than the remastering of old 90's footage.

The story is set a few years after Kid Buu dies. Vegeta's long lost brother Tarble arrives to Earth to warn the Z Warriors of two pricks from a far-away galaxy. I really wished whoever wrote this didn't make so many non-sensical plot issues. I know there's always some in every Dragon Ball movie, but this came long after everything else and is set after the last saga yet before the end scene of the series with Uub.

Noteworthy is that there's a lot more Japanese customs and quirks in this movie than any other. Also Tarble's wife is this weird alien chick.

Though there is plenty of classic Dragon Ball humor. Will that perv Master Roshi ever learn?

I thought the fight scenes were decent enough. Just wished it wasn't mostly Goten and Trunks fighting. I did like Goku's trick on Vegeta though.

It's a decent extra for any Dragon Ball Z fan. I hope Americans get a dub after Dragon Ball Z Kai is over with.

Watched Sailor Moon R (Spoilers)

My girlfriend and I watched through the original, and we just got done watching all of the second series today.

It first starts off with these two alien things. They cheat on one another and are sorta brother and sister. So let's move on.

It doesn't really pick up until the Black Moon Clan show up. It got really good after the four sisters were defeated.

I also liked the character of Chibi-Usa. Being Usagi's and Mamoru's daughter from the future brought a lot of good moments, mainly of Chibi-Usa and her future mother trying to kill each other.

The whole past-future stuff was pretty cool as well.

Thankfully all the Sailor Senshi girls get power-ups, instead of their weak attacks in the original.

It still has it's share of problems, but I liked it better than the first series if you don't count the two aliens with a crappy tree.

Watched Sailor Moon

My girlfriend got me interested. I remember passing on the series when it was on Toonami, and I tried watching the English dub on Youtube (I usually watch English dubs), but it's too awful. But I like the Japanese version.

Frankly this is why a lot of people knew of Sailor Moon. Hot outfits for cosplay girls.

But it is a decent anime. It stars a girl named Usagi who is dumb as rocks, eats everything, and cries like a bitch.

She gets constantly picked on by this guy.

But then she finds a talking cat.

And becomes a Sailor Warrior.

So she has to stop this asshole from stealing energy from people. Seriously energy. You'll learn this about a billion times.

She can't fight worth a damn, so Tuxedo Mask comes to save her ass constantly.

I'm sure a lot of the show is filler and the manga is at least a billion times better, but it doesn't start to pick up until Sailor Mercury. I really like her look, and personality. Her fight moves suck ass though.

Sailor Mars was a great character. I liked her fire power, and how she would fight verbally with Sailor Moon all the time.

Sailor Jupiter was decent. For a "Amazon woman" as they like to portray her, she does kinda wimp out all girly sometimes.

Sailor Venus came out all awesome and shit, but then she becomes worthless pretty quick.

Queen Beryl is a bitch. She loves that Crystal ball and Mamoru's balls as well.

This guy was a pretty decent villian.

Until he becomes good and shit, and starts a really awkward relationship with Usagi's friend Naru. Chris Hansen wants him to take a seat.

I found this fucker pretty annoying. Didn't know if he was a boy or girl for awhile.

This guy was way too powerful and then he dies so easily. Shit.

I think the anime probably suffers from what made Dragon Ball Z a worse anime that it could have been. Lots seem to be just filler, and not to mention some of the stuff is defiantly "censored" to fit their TV audience.
