My Thoughts on the Presidency of Lyndon Baines Johnson

LBJ took a role as President after JFK was assassinated in 1963.

Domestically (despite a questionable past in politics) LBJ was pretty liberal socially. He signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which was the most major form of equal rights law in history. 

He also created Medicare for the eldery, and Medicaid for the poor. Both programs still help out many today. 

He also help created programs such as Head Start and Food Stamps. 

However the one thing that came to haunt LBJ was not riots in the streets, but rather war in the East. His arrogance with the Vietnam war costed us a lot of money, time, and lives, and ruined his political career. The prevention of the spread of Communism might have seemed like one of the most important objectives in history back in the 1960's however today, we can see Vietnam as a meaningless lost cause. 

Despite a big mistake in foreign matters, I think LBJ was a pretty good president. He made a lot of progress when it came to social and domestic issues. 

Fact of Day: Lose America, Go Insane

In the later part of his life, King George III (the king during the time of the American Revolution) went insane was deemed unfit to rule. 

So his son ruled as Prince Regent until his death. Afterwards, he became king himself, and became King George IV.

The computer company is hoping the former Ebay CEO will help their company. Honestly it couldn't be worse than her California race for Governor last year. She spent over 144 million of HER OWN MONEY and still lost to Jerry Brown. At least she found a job.  

Troy Davis Dead After Supreme Court Denial

Even though the case of a murdered police officer happened quite a long time ago, Troy Davis' last moments were in the spotlight of the world. He was found guilty, but as the years went on the evidence and testimony fell apart. The system refused to give him a new trial and he was sentenced to death. 

As his last day drew near, his supporters grew and grew. People held signs like "I am Troy Davis" and marched in protest. However after a Supreme Court rejected his case, he was killed by lethal injection only hours ago in Georgia. This is a perfect example of why the death penalty should be abolished. 

Glenn Beck Boycotts Levi Jeans

So a recent Levi commercial has gotten the insane-conservative radio show host outraged. Why? Because it showed a bunch of calm teenagers who look like they might rebel. He compared the ad to Progressivism and European Socialists marching. I compare the ad to random images to appeal to hipster teenagers. But the damage is done and Beck will never buy a single pair of pants again. At least from Levi Jeans.

I really think this a ploy from him to get more attention after Fox News cancelled his show and sent him the paid-internet subspace of webshows.

Former President Bill Clinton Declined Dancing the Stars Offer

Even though I've never watched the show, I remember when they first tried to promote it. Originally they had worthless has-beens as the majority of their contestants. However recently, more legitimate celebrities have joined the show. Bill Clinton apparently got an invite for the show but declined. He had a couple of reasons, but I think the biggest was the fact that Hilary reminded him of what happened the last time he started dancing with other women. 

Warren Buffet To Attend Obama Fundraiser

Warren Buffet has already been a pretty big supporter of Obama, and he is going to attend an 35,800 per person fundraiser. Obama is also a big fan of Buffet since he unveiled a tax-plan nicknamed "The Buffet Rule" which will make the super-rich pay the same rate as the middle class does.

Tea Party Congressman Named One of the Most Corrupt Members of Congress

A political group has come up with names for some of the worst members of Congress and one of their most notable tea baggers made the list. Despite being for a party that stresses "family values" and "fiscal responsibility"  Walsh owes thousands of dollars in child support, and has lied on his income reports. One of them being paying more in rent than what he apparently makes. 

Levi Johnston Bashes Palin Family in New Book

Bristol Palin wrote a book about her "life" recently and now it was time for her baby's daddy to take a crack at it. Apparently the words are not kind for the Palin family. He says their son was conceived on a drunken camping trip only because Bristol had taken herself off of birth control. Apparently she was jealous of her mom's new baby and wanted one of her own. My Thoughts On The Presidency of John F. Kennedy

JFK beat Nixon in a close race to become our 3rd President to serve during the cold war. 

Most of what JFK was notable for dealt with foreign affairs. For example one of the first things that happen was the Bay of Pigs invasion. Where the CIA had trained Cuban rebels to overthrow the Castro-Communist government. Needless to say, that plan flopped pretty hard. 

The Cuban Missile Crisis had the world on the edge of it's toes over the thought of nuclear war. Thankfully it ended with both sides making compromising and removing nukes close to their rival's homelands. 

JFK also had a lot to do with the prevention of Communist countries such as Laos and Vietnam. At least he didn't mess things up as badly as LBJ did. 

I do have to thank him for the creation of the Peace Corps which still operates and helps many today. 

He also helped hurl us into the Space Race when we were lagging behind the Soviets. Might seem kinda silly today, but it really helped boost American morale back then. 

JFK was a friend to civil rights, and did a lot to help the cause. Granted he did wait cautiously for fear of the racist Southern Democrats (most of whom later switched to the Republican side) trying to block all his civil rights bills. 

Of course it all ended short when JFK was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald in Texas. 

As for Oswald, I believe if he wasn't acting alone then he was working for some criminal mafia-type group. Maybe he worked as one of their thugs and perhaps they didn't want him to link them to the death of a U.S. president. Which pretty much meant that whole police force on all levels would hunt you down.  

I think JFK was a good president, however I think his legacy is a bit heightened because his reign was cut short too soon. 

Congressman Phil Roe Saves Man's Life At Airport

Phil Roe, a Republican who got into the house on the ride of the Tea Party wave of fear for an easy re-election saw a man collapse on the ground while at the airport. He then gave him CPR, and saved his life. Though a bit of irony since he is a government worker, and he gave out some free healthcare. Just joking.

Mitt Romney Wants Someone As "Good" As Dick Cheney For Vice President

In a recent town hall meeting, Romney said this:

"“I think it was last weekend, I was watching C-SPAN, and I saw Vice President Dick Cheney, and he was being asked questions about a whole host of issues — following 9/11, the affairs in various countries in the world,” Romney said. “And I listened to him speak and said whether you agree or disagree with him, this is a man of wisdom and judgment, and he could have been president of the United States. That’s the kind of person I’d like to have — a person of wisdom and judgment.”

Apparently wisdom and judgement also means being able to use Bush Jr like a puppet, and just let America run right into two wars that have costed trillions and have done very little. If I was Romney, I think I would want a little higher standards for my running mate. 

Gov. Rick Perry Calls Obama "Socialist"

Like all stupid conservatives who want to sling mud at Obama, Rick Perry has called Obama a socialist for the first time publicly that I know of since he threw his name in the presidential ring. It comes from a recent Time magazine interview.

Time: Now that you’ve been in the race for while, do you feel pressure to temper some of your rhetoric, like calling the Obama administration socialist?

Rick Perry: No, I still believe they are socialist. Their policies prove that almost daily. Look, when all the answers emanate from Washington D.C., one size fits all, whether it’s education policy or whether it’s healthcare policy, that is, on its face, socialism

.

Oh god, do I hate people who throw around the word Socialism and don't even understand what it means. Not like Obama does anything even remotely progressive anymore since the Republicans took over the House of Representatives. Rick Perry is a liar and con-artist.

North Carolina State House Approves Gay Marriage Question on Ballot

Homophobia runs wild in the south, and while states like New York are passing gay marriage rights, states like North Carolina are trying to pass gay marriage bans. It is already against state law for gay marriage to happen, however they are putting a new question on the ballot next May. It will ask voters whether or not a gay marriage ban should be put in place in the state's Constitution. Being a country where we separate church and state, this should not even be an issue. All of this stuff is really unconstitutional on a national level to begin with. Let loving people get married regardless of the couple having the same gender. 

My Thoughts On The Presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower

Eisenhower took over after Truman to become the first Republican president since Herbert Hoover.  

Despite being from a different party, Eisenhower didn't try to destroy New Deal issues like Social Security. In fact he actually expanded them to make them better. I swear today, he would have switched parties after seeing how far-right the GOP has become. 

He was also responsible for the creation of a lot of the public highways in America. Which I think was great for the economy in the long run for transportation of goods and travelling. 

He also saw the Cold War rise to new tensions during his term. I think he did a good job at keeping peace, but showing our enemies that we can be forceful if provoked. 

He also was a friend to civil rights. Even though his civil rights bills were weak compared to one in 1964, it was still milestone progress for it's time. 

I think Eisenhower wasn't the greatest president in history, but he was an awfully good one. One of the few presidents for which I have almost no criticism.  

Tim Pawlenty Endorses Mitt Romney

After quitting due to his loss in the Iowa straw poll to Michele Bachmann, Pawlenty has now said publicly who he endorses for President. He's betting it all on Romney, which seems like a safe bet since it will probably be either him or Rick Perry. 

Anthony Weiner is Having a Boy

The disgraced Congress resigned earlier this year, however his marriage stayed afloat despite his Twitter sex scandal. His wife revealed she was pregnant after coming back from a business trip, and now they found out that the new baby will be a boy. Another Weiner in the family.

My Thoughts On The Presidency of Harry S. Truman

Harry Truman became president after the death of FDR in 1945. Bringing him into power at the climax of World War II. 

Which meant he had to make the tough decisions of using nuclear weapons on a city of innocent people .

And he had to make the order twice. 

Despite the questionable use of nuclear weapons, he was also pretty alright with foreign affiars. He helped found the United Nations, the rebuilding of Europe, and the prevention of North Korea taking over the South with the Korean War. 

Domestically he was a questionable friend of labor rights. Except his solutions to end major strikes seemed too forceful. 

He also had to deal with extreme fears of communism at home which came to form as McCarthyism. 

Which didn't help matters when it came to introducing more social-progressive ideas. He was one of the first presidents to really try to get our country universal health care. The Republican Congress weren't fans of his Fair Deal. 

Some of things relating to civil rights seemed a bit sketchy under his term, but he did make some advancements. One of the most notable ones being the de-segregation of troops in the military. 

Overall I think Truman was a pretty good president. An easy top ten placer for sure. 

Fact of the Day: Russian Duchess Anastasia Didn't Survive

Despite rumors and even movies such as the 1997 Disney Film claiming she somehow escaped from death and began an new life were false. She was murdered by Communist forces, along with most of the royal family during the rise of the Soviet Union.
